We are a family owned and operated kennel located on 10 beautiful acres in Southern Manitoba, Canada about 30 minutes north of the U.S. border.  We are approximately 1 hr from the Winnipeg International Airport.  We have been successfully shipping puppies across Canada and the United States.  We started breeding Doodles in 2002, but had previously bred purebred Labrador Retrievers and Havanese.  Our focus is now on Doodle
crosses only.

Our dogs are housed in either of two
kennel buildings or in our home.  The
biggest of the two kennels is 40' x 20'
which includes 9 indoor/outdoor runs
and grooming area.  The second kennel
building is 24' x 36' and includes 7
indoor/outdoor runs.  We have built our
runs larger than the recommended size
to better accommodate the dams and
their pups, it also gives us the advantage
of letting our dogs room in together if
necessary.  All dogs and puppies have
access to doggy doors in each individual
run to allow them indoor/outdoor access
24 hours a day.

When the dams are near their due dates
they are brought into our home where we
have two birthing rooms set up for them.
Pups then stay in our home with us for
anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks depending
on any special needs required by the dam
such as a c-section or any problems with
nursing, etc.  The length of time they are in
the house can also vary based on how many
litters are born in close proximity to each
other.  Once we know that the mom and pups
are ready they make the move into the kennel
where they remain with their mother until
weaning is complete and the pups are then
moved into the puppy pen described previously
to start learning how to use the doggy door for
outdoor access.  This way the puppies know to
go potty outside prior to leaving our care.

We keep a close eye on the newborns in our home to ensure they are growing well and getting lots of loving care.  We also weigh the pups every day or two during the first  week to make sure that they are gaining sufficient weight.  We spend a lot of time with our puppies, as do our children, Riley (10) and Janelle (8).  Our children take great delight in playing with the pups and falling in love with each and every one of them.  None of the pups leave our kennel being shy or aggressive, we take pride in caring for them all as individuals before they move on to their new homes.

Our goal at Blazing Star Doodles is to
produce happy, healthy pups who will
grow into beloved family pets and
companions.  We like to know about
our adoptive families before a pup moves
on because we want to provide our pups
with the very best homes possible.  We do
check up on the pup and it's new family
periodically via phone or email and are
always willing to answer any questions or
give advice when requested.  Oh and we
do insist on getting pictures of all our pups
as they grow!
